Carol A. Meier, age 81, of Nickerson
Died Wednesday, February 25, 2026

Carol was born November 17, 1944 in Fremont to LaVerne and Doris 'Hilgenkamp' Busch. She was raised on a farm near Telbasta. She attended church at Immanuel Lutheran and St. John's Lutheran. She graduated from Hooper High School in 1963 and went on to school at the Lincoln School of Commerce. She worked in Lincoln then married Don Meier on December 4, 1966. The couple moved to Hooper where they lived until moving to a farm southwest of Hooper. Carol's working years were spent mostly at the Hooper Care Center and the Hooper
Elementary School until retiring.

Carol loved music and working with her flowers in her she-shed. Some even described her as an expert with violets. She enjoyed sports; she played intramural softball for many years in Lincoln and cheering for the Huskers. After Don passed in 2006, she loved traveling to watch her grandchildren's activities. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was very active. She also enjoyed singing with the area Christmas Cantata and having coffee with very dear friends. She married Richard Schurman on March 1, 2014. They enjoyed being on the go…Alaska, Canada, Branson, on the farm, and anywhere the grandkids were.

Carol was a bright spot every day that I saw her with her high energy and her love for whatever she was doing!! I was privileged to work with her at the Hooper elementary School when the life skills room was created. She was so encouraging with the children and with any problems that any of us had. This world has lost a sparkle!! Carol is so blessed to be in the arms of the Lord forever and ever and we will see you again there!
