Died Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Methodist Fremont Health.
Esther Greunke was born on January 23rd 1936. in Johnstown Nebraska. She moved to Fremont at 14 years old to the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children. She graduated from Fremont Senior High in 1955. She lived a full life by family, resilience and simple pleasures that brought her joy. Esther was married to Charles Ferguson to that union they had 3 children Sandy, Debbie and Terri. They later divorced. She later married Virgil Greunke. He passed away November 15th 2013. Throughout her life she worked at many restaurants jobs always needed for her family. From her own children to her great grandchildren, she enjoyed sewing. camping, fishing, and spending time at their sports activities and school functions. She really liked band and choir. She will be remembered for her strong will, her love for family and the lives she touched.
Survivors her three daughters Sandy (Bob) Nielsen, Debbie (Steven) Huls of Fremont and Terri Behl of Lincoln. Grandchildren Eric (Megan) Nielsen of Fremont, Brian (Sara} of Morse Bluff, Brad Jensen, Chad Jensen of Fremont, Courtney Jensen of Nashville Tennessee, Andrew (Heather)Behl of Lincoln. Sisters-in- law Izzita Burgan of Fremont and Mary Jane Burgan of Lincoln, and a brother-in-law Karl Hering of Colorado Springs Colorado. Great grandchildren Kylee, Anton and Rachelle Pedersen, Garrett and Logan Nielsen all of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her six siblings two sons-in-law and one granddaughter.
Visitation Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Fremont Presbyterian Church beginning at 10am. The funeral will follow at 11am with burial in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials are suggested to the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children or The Fremont Presbyterian Church. Ludvigsen Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
