Ellen R. Nathan age 102, of Fremont, formerly of Madison,
was received by the Lord on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Ellen Rozella Dieter was born in Madison, Nebraska to William and Katharine 'Feiling' Dieter on October 22, 1921. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Leonard's Church in Madison. She received her education at District 6 country school southeast of Madison and also at St. Leonard's.

On December 31, 1942 she was married to Edwin Nathan of Madison at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humphrey, Nebraska. To this union, four children were born.

She and her husband lived on a farm for several years, moving into Madison in 1949, and started a trucking business. She was involved with her husband in driving trucks, making many a trip of livestock to Omaha Stockyards, also hauled grain to the local elevators. She also drove school bus for the Madison School District 1 for almost 19 years.

Ellen and Edwin attended most all of their children's sporting activities and after moving to Fremont in 2002 to be closer to family, attended grand and great grandchildren's activities. Ellen was very happy to have visited all 50 states with family, including cruises to Alaska and Hawaii. Please accept my sympathy on the passing of “Mrs. Nathan”. I have such fond memories of her being my bus driver from kindergarten all the way through graduation. During a winter blizzard when I was kindergarten she couldn’t get me home and took me home to stay with her and your family until the blizzard was over. She drove us to all of our jr. high and high school sporting and band events and was always our favorite driver. May your memories always be a blessing.

Dear Sherry - Praying for you as you learn to live without your sweet mama. She was quite a girl, and you were two peas in a pod, so I know how you'll miss her. RIP Ellen.
