Jeff was born on March 3, 1956, to Thorle and Arlene (Sorensen) Plahn in Harlan, Iowa. He attended schools in Fremont, Rising City, and graduated from Friend High School in 1974. In 1983, he graduated from Doane College, Crete, Nebraska.
He served in the US Air Force from 1976 until 1979. He married Deena Warner in 1977 and they later divorced.
He worked as a bank examiner for the FDIC in Hays, Kansas and later moved to Overland Park, Kansas, working for the USDA. After becoming disabled, he moved back to Fremont.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack Charles Plahn (Vietnam War).
He is survived by brothers, Rick and wife Connie Plahn, Tom and wife Esther Plahn, all of Fremont; sister Jolene Plahn-Nolan of Omaha, nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
Some of Jeff's greatest joys in life were spending time with family, playing cards, and taking care of his precious dogs, Tasha and Peanuts.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 9, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel from 5 pm to 7 pm. A prayer service will be at 7 pm, Tuesday, also at the chapel with Scott Jensen, Methodist Fremont Health Chaplain, officiating. A private family burial with Military Honors will take place in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, Joseph C.H. Bales #18 in Fremont.
