Edward was born April 24, 1935 in Denison, Iowa to Edward and Margaret 'Reetz' Segebart. He was baptized (September 22, 1935) and confirmed (December 25, 1952) at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Edward graduated from high school in Deloit, Iowa in May 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He returned to Deloit and married Carol J. Smith on April 15, 1956.
Edward was employed for ten years with the Illinois Central Railroad in Fort Dodge, Iowa with the train service. He was then employed at Hormel Foods in Fort Dodge, Iowa before being transferred to Hormel Foods in Fremont, Nebraska in 1981 until he retired in 1997.
Edward was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Donald and Jerry Segebart.
The funeral will be 10am, Friday October 12, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Mark Weber will officiate. Burial will be at 3pm at the Deloit Cemetery, Deloit, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday October 11, 2018 from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm to receive friends at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
