Cecil was born June 25, 1915 on a farm south of Dodge, Nebraska to James 'Artie' and Elsie (Black) Harris. He grew up on the farm and attended rural school district 40. He helped on the farm and also helped his brother in the trucking business until his marriage.

On April 8, 1936, Cecil was married to Katherine Legband in Hooper. They first lived in Snyder for a few months, later leasing a farm in Colfax County and living there until 1940. In 1940 they moved to a farm in Dodge County (a mile east of the Glencoe Cemetery) and they purchased the farm in the fall of '40. In 1947, they sold the farm and bought a farm/ranch in Keya Paha County, Nebraska. They lived there for the next 33 years, raising wheat and cattle. He also had been a partner in the used equipment business where he worked in the repair shop in his spare time. In 1980, Cecil and Katherine moved to Fremont.

Cecil was a member of the First Congregational Church, UCC of Fremont. He spent many years, serving on various boards: school board, rural co-op boards, rural fire district boards, and church committees.

He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine in October of 1990. On May 4, 1991 he was married to Ardith Stubbert Sumner Clausen in Schuyler, and they made their home in Fremont.

Cecil was preceded in death, in addition to his wife Katherine, by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

The funeral service will be 2 PM Friday (Febr. 15th) at the First Congregational Church, UCC in Fremont. The committal will follow in Glencoe Cemetery (8 miles west of Scribner). Visitation will be on Thursday (Febr. 14th) from 2 to 8 PM at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. A memorial will be established by the family.
