Leon was born October 28, 1929 in Yutan to Otto and Rickie 'Kennec' Stange. He grew up on the farm near Yutan and graduated from Yutan High School. Then he farmed with his father until entering the United States Army serving from 1951 until 1953, part of the time serving in Germany.

On his return home he resumed farming. On August 19, of 1961 he was married in Fremont to Jennie August.
They farmed 2 ½ miles northwest of Yutan until moving into Fremont in 1988. Leon then worked for a farmer near Leshara for 2 years.

Leon was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Yutan. He also belonged to American Legion Post 262 and VFW Post 9844, both of Yutan.

Survivors: wife - Jennie
daughter - Julie Stange
2 sons - Michael and Mark
granddaughter - Courtney Mills, all of Fremont

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday (July 9th) in St. John's Lutheran Church, Yutan, with the Rev. Glenn Schacht officiating. The committal will follow in Hollst-Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors
by American Legion Post 262 and VFW Post 9844. Memorials are suggested to the Dodge County Humane Society and to the donor's choice.

There will be a memorial visitation with the family Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont.
