She was born Dec. 17, 1917 to J. Frank and Anna Rosina Barbara Schwab in Hooper. She was the oldest of seven children and raised on a farm in Hooper. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Myrtle graduated from Hooper High School and taught rural school in Hooper. She received a Bachelors Degree in Education at Wayne State College and obtained her Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Myrtle met her husband of 50 years, Burney Stovall of Rosebud, TX, via the telephone. The couple was married Aug. 15, 1958 in San Antonio, TX. Burney was District Manager of Human Resources for Hughes Tool Company and Myrt, as she was known to those who loved her, taught high school English. She taught in Plattsmouth and Wayne State College before she was married. She then taught English wherever Burney was assigned including Midland, TX, Denver, Co., Casper, Wy, and Hobbs, N.M. She also sold real estate in Midland, TX.

The special bond that she had with Burney could never be broken in death and after he passed away just four days earlier on July 15, 2008, she went to join her soul mate so they may be together for all of eternity and never again be parted.
She is survived by two sisters, , Lois Schwab of Lincoln and Janet (Leslie) Hodges of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Shirley Schwab of Fremont, six nieces, four nephews, 9 great nephews, 2 great nieces and 2 great great nieces. Memorial services were held Tuesday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. A double graveside service for her and her husband will be held Friday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper Cemetery in Hooper. Pastor Joel Schroeder of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper will officiate.
