Helen was born September 19, 1925 in Battle Creek, Nebraska to Justin and Marie 'Jensen' McCarthy. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1943, and was married to Thomas C. Ronin on April 5, 1944 in Oakland, California, where Thomas was stationed with the United States Navy. Following his service time, Helen and Tom returned to Fremont where they raised their two daughters, Carol and Nancy.

Helen was President of the Junior High School PTA in the 1950's. She also taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church and belonged to the church Guild.

For many years Helen was the bookkeeper at Spangler's Jewelry Store and then worked at Schweser's "Gladrags" Store.

She will be remembered by her family as a caring, loving, and wonderful person.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Justin and Marie, her husband Thomas, her brother Gerald McCarthy, and great granddaughter Sydney Thompson.

Survivors: 2 daughters - Nancy Ronin of Fremont
Carol Thompson and her husband Art of Eagle, Nebraska
grandson - Douglas Thompson and his wife Liz of Lincoln, Nebraska
granddaughter - Anne Brandt and her husband Bradley of Lincoln
great grandchildren - Ry and Megan Thompson; Madalyn, Will, and Caroline Brandt
sister - Elaine Haxby and husband Robert of Fremont

There will be no public services or visitation. A private service will be held.

In memory of Helen, memorials are suggested to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for the Center for Neurovirology and Neurodegenerative Disorders for Parkinson's Research, and the First Baptist Church, and the Fremont Area Medical Center Home Health and Hospice.

    Carol and Nancy So sorry to hear about your mom. As the old Irish saying goes: Memories keep those we love close to us forever. My memory is that I never saw her without a smile on her face. Just seeing her picture and thinking about her today made me smile too.
