Marie was born November 9, 1917 on the farm in Butler County, near David City, Nebraska. Her parents were Louis and Albina (Hlavac) Laudenklos. She was baptized November 18, 1917, and then she was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont on April 4, 1948.

She moved with her family from the farm to Dodge, Nebraska in the 1930's, and she attended Dodge High School. Marie went to work in Fremont, where she met her future husband. She and Marvin Bartling were married on January 1, 1941 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska and have been married 68 years. They have been long time Fremont residents. Marie was a loving wife, mother, and home maker. Marie and Marvin have resided in Shalimar Gardens in Fremont the past 2 years.

Marie has been a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fremont since 1948.

Marie was preceded in death by 4 brothers (Nicholas, Joseph, George, Donald) and 4 sisters (Margaret Hass, Blanche Lannon, Marcella Peters, Mildred Benetti).

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday (Febr. 9th, 2009) in Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, on Sunday (Febr. 8th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 PM.
