He was born October 20, 1923 to William and Ida 'Ahlemeyer' Hilgenkamp on the farm near Arlington. He spent his childhood years in the Arlington area, where he attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and Church.

On August 1, 1948, he was married to LaVerne M. Carlson in the Marietta Presbyterian Church in rural Colon. Following his marriage, he farmed in that area near Colon all of his working years.

Leslie had been active in 4-H programs and had served on the board of school district 82. He had also been a member of the Saunders County Pork Producers. And he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fremont.

Survivors: wife - LaVerne
2 sons - Dan and wife Linda Hilgenkamp of Searcy, Arkansas
and their 2 sons Bradley and Blake
Dave and wife Andrea Hilgenkamp of Colon
and their 2 sons Matthew and Andrew
1 sister - Ethellean Barth of Fremont

Leslie was preceded in death by a sister and 2 brothers.

The funeral service will be 10 AM Monday (March 23rd) in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont, with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The committal will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery north of Arlington.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Sunday (March 22nd) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 PM.
