Orland Krohn was born on June 9, 1922 in Washington County near Herman to E. Emil and M. Louise 'Wittmann' Krohn. He grew up there on the farm, attending Immanuel Lutheran School and 8th grade in Bell Center School. He attended the Lincoln Aeronautical Institute for 2 years (1939 & 1940). He taught at the Institute for 2 years and then enlisted in the Navy Seabees for 3 years. He was stationed in the South Pacific. In 1946 he was honorably discharged and returned to the family farm. He farmed for 47 years. First with his father then with his 2 sons. He retired to Hooper in 1993.

Orland married Fern Lang on September 29, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (Rural Hooper) and held many offices. He was also a member of the Lutheran Layman League. When he moved to Hooper he transferred to St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hooper. Orland was a member of the VFW Post 8332 in Arlington. He was an agent & Board member of Concordia Insurance Company & United Mutual for 40 years and also a board member of PCA (Production Credit Association) for 6 years.

9 grandchildren - Amy and husband Chris Slama, Matt Windhusen, Marty and wife Melonie Windhusen, Andy Krohn, Angie and husband Matt Feder, Zac Krohn, Sara Krohn, James Case, Annie and husband Chad Rinas.
12 great grandchildren
Brother - Paul Krohn of Farmington, Minnesota
2 Sisters-in-law - Lois Krohn of Herman
Elva Krohn of Craig

Orland was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elmer & Herold Krohn, and sister-in-law Betty Krohn. He was also preceded by a niece Judy Bentrup.

The funeral will be 11:00am Friday March 27 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper with Military Honors to follow by the Arlington Honor Guard (VFW Post 8332 and American Legion post 71). The Rev. Carl Lehmann will officiate. There will be a private family committal at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at the Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm with family from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
