Roland was born Sept. 15, 1917 in Fremont to Morris and Ruth 'Berry' Petersen. He grew up on the farm northwest of Fremont. He worked briefly for a diary in Omaha before returning to farm with his father and brothers.

On April 16, 1941, Roland was married at Fremont in First Lutheran Church to Adeline Schloemer. They farmed northwest of Fremont all their working years and moved into Fremont only a few years ago as their health declined.

He was a life long member of the Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church northwest of Fremont. He had served on the church council, and also on the board of the Bluffs Cemetery. And he had served on the Nickerson Rural Fire Board.

son - Steven Petersen of Fremont
daughter - Barbara and husband Douglas Garling of Almena, Wisc.

sister - Dolores McDuffee of Scribner
2 brothers - Gerald and wife Norma Petersen of Fremont
Wes and wife Alyce Petersen of Schuyler
and nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service will be 2 PM Monday (April 6th) in the Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church northwest of Fremont with the Rev. J.O. Baumgartner officiating. The committal will follow in the Bluffs Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Bluffs Cemetery and to the Oaks Indian Mission.

Visitation will be on Sunday (April 5th) from 2 to 8 PM with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 PM. at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. The casket will be not be opened in the church.
