Bobette Diann Lucey, beloved mother, daughter, sister, nana, aunt and friend was carried to Heaven in the arms of her Savior on May 5, 2009 after a brave, but all too short battle with brain cancer. She was surrounded by her family.

She was born in Fremont, NE. on August 22, 1953 to Robert D. Smith and Elvina M. Olry Smith. As a child she attended Northside School in Fremont and graduated from Westside High School in Omaha in 1971. She had lived and worked in the Dallas, TX. area for over 25 years and was a committed member of AA for 30 years. Bobette reconnected with her parents Bob and Jan Smith ten years ago and moved back to Fremont last year to be closer to her Nebraska family.

She will be sadly missed by parents Bob and Jan smith of Fremont; 3 children and their spouses, Heather and Marc Hamm of The Colony, TX; Brent and Jessica Graeve of Jersey City, NJ; Beth and George Hansen; 6 grand children Jacob and Hannah Hamm; William, Karissa, Henry and James Hansen; 2 brothers and their wives, Rick and Melinda Smith of Evans, Co; Mike and Nan Smith of rural Scribner, NE; 3 sisters and their husbands: Jackie and Frank Hindley of Carter Lake, IA: Lisa and Joe Bussen of Fremont and Loree and Steve Tancona of Freehold, NJ; dear friends Sam McCollum and Terry and Barb Graeve, many loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and church family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elvina and her adoptive father, Jack Schlicker.

A celebration of her life will be Saturday, May 9th at 2pm at her church in Omaha, StoneBridge Christian Church, 15801 Butler Ave. Omaha NE. 68116 (on 156th between Fort and Maple). Memorials in lieu of flowers in Bobette's name for family's choice. She was so very faithful to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and that faith carried her through to the end.

    Bobette was always there to make you smile..her kind words and support was awesome just like the lady she was.. She always seemed to find humor in anything and had a way of helping you forget your problems. She is and was one of kind beautiful woman and I am blessed to have known her..I will never forget the support and hope she had given me time and time again and the many prayers she had said for me and mine. Thank You Bobette for being such an important part of my life. I will miss and never forget you..My deepest sympathy goes out to your family..be secure in knowing that she is with you, watching over you & loving all of you. A very Special Guardian Angel. Know that she is now in heaven shining in the light. Know that she will always be with in spirit and in your hearts. She had a special something about her that drew everyone to her. Remember her smile and laugh. . My prayers go out to the family.
