In 1955, she moved to Fremont and began working for Hormel's. On August 26, 1956, Jo Ann Phillips was married in First Lutheran Church in Fremont to Melvin Schneider. They lived in Denison, Iowa for 13 years, and since 1970, the couple lived in Fremont. She was a homemaker, raising their 5 children.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church and it's Ruth Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nytha, and a sister Dorothy Christensen.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday (June 26, 2009) in the First Lutheran Church (3200 E. Military), Fremont. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to her church.
Visitation will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, on Thursday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 PM.
