Lola and family: Our deepest condolences for your loss. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of great heartache. Imagine showing up at a family reunion in 2008 and finding out that one of your favorite high school teachers from forty years ago is a relative... now take that times THREE. That afternoon three ex-students and one delightful teacher had our own "mini-reunion" with many stories and boundless joyful laughter. In high school physics class we playfully christened Mr. Meyer "9 1/2 " due to his propensity for displaying that "stubby finger" of his by constantly resting his right hand on the glass of the overhead projector. The result would broadcast this physical anomaly to a colossal eight-foot dimension... the giggles would start... he'd smile but never miss a beat engrossed in the passion of his lecture. As an educator Mr. Meyer impressed in each of us a burning desire to be curious about the magnificent world around us and always prodded us to be our best. Lowell's joyful exuberance for life and uplifting countenance certainly brought more Light into the world. Our hearts only seem so heavy today because he filled them so full. It is now our turn to hold up that Light and carry on with what he taught and exemplified so well. Lowell Meyer... an A++

This week, you will hear many kind words from Mr. Meyer's former students. What a great teacher and positive influence he was during their years at FHS. Having spent three semesters with Lowell, I can honestly say, he was one of my personal favorites as well. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Lola and family: As I read all the tributes to Lowell I can't help thinking he was certainly a wonderful husband and father. He would have given a helping hand to anybody that asked. It's obvious his students all loved him as well as his family, friends and co-teachers. At this sad time may you all find comfort in the many happy memories you've made over the years and in knowing his suffering is over. I have said all my life that Lowell was a piece-maker and now he is at peace with His maker. God be with all of you during these difficult days.

I had the pleasure of taking a family trip with the Meyer clan recently. It was clear how important Lowell was to his children and grandchildren. There was so much love and happiness it was wonderful. It is so comforting to know that his family will see him again in heaven some day. God Bless you all.
  9. Janet (McKinney) Busse
There is not a man in this world that I remember smiling and laughing as much as Uncle Lowell. He seemed to be happy ALL the time, and always laughed - even when the joke was on him! He would offer up his "stubby finger" for us little nieces and nephews as many times as we wanted to see it, and laughed about it the whole time. He never tired of spending time with family and friends, and always loved a good party! I don't know that I ever talked to a single student from FHS who had him for a teacher that ever had anything but fun things to say about him. He was a great, great man, and he was loved so much by so many of us. He was my "2nd dad" growing up, and I will cherish those memories forever. I know in my heart that Jesus is taking care of him now, and he has no more pain. Rest in peace, Unlce Lowell!! We love you!! Janet, Brian, Holly, Valaree, and Nicklaus

  13. Deb Watchorn
Dale, Deb, Larry and Connie, I was saddened to hear about the passing of your father, and my thoughts and prayers go out to your family. I remember very well my Physics class with Mr. Meyer. I was not the greatest science student, but Mr. Meyer made physics so much fun, that even I enjoyed it. He was one of my favorite teachers at Fremont High. I am a teacher now, and I try to bring enthusiasm and joy into my classroom, the way your dad did. So sorry for your loss! In heaven there now lives a great teacher and great man. Deb Watchorn
