Fremont, NE Monday, January 5, 2026 The past few years I've had the pleasure of getting to know Steve. He would ride along with me while I helped mow yards. His mowing days may have been in the past, but he still enjoyed riding along and feeling like he was still part of the team. I will miss his company.Floyd and Laurie Knodel
FREMONT, NE Thursday, January 1, 2026 My wife and I have known Steve since 2018 when I begin mowing lawns with him for a lawn service owned by Garlan and Janice Janssen. Steve, even in these older years for him, worked strenuously, always putting forth great effort on many hot summer afternoons. I rarely ever heard Steve complain or speak badly about anything or anybody. He enjoyed watching basketball and football. He often walked 3 to 4 miles a day in his seventies. Steve was a payroll personnel for the Army in the 1960s, stationed in Germany. Steve was very organized even in his latter years and believed in the idea everything had a place and there was a place for everything. He was always very great full when I would buy him a soda or sack lunch. He was always thankful for the many things other friends and family help him with when he had some challenges. My wife and I will sadly miss Steve, along with others that got to spend time working, watching TV or walking with him. Best Regards, Floyd Kjohn ilgenfritz
helena, MT Tuesday, December 30, 2025 Condolences to Steve and Cheryl's families. I also knew his sister, Cheryl passed away earlier in 2025. I did not know older brother, Gary. The Wardens lived across the street from us when we lived on Broad Street in Fremont back in the day.
Steve and I were both in the class of 1964. We each had Chinese Pugs as pets and enjoyed playing with then in our fenced backyard. Ours was named Duke and his, Toby.
He was an excellent athlete in both baseball and basketball.
I lost touch with Steve after high school.
His passing brings back only fond memories of those early years.
Sincerely,
john
