Earl (Bill) R. Schmidt, 83 of Fremont passed away peacefully after a long health battle on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

He was born in Fremont, Nebraska on April 17,1942 to Ernest and Helen (Pollock) Schmidt. Bill graduated from Fremont High School in 1960 and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he earned an engineering degree.

He was engaged to Vernyce Andersen on December 24, 1963, and they married June 26, 1964. They lived in Lincoln 2 years, 6 years in Nebraska City, where he was a Plant Engineer at Morton House Foods. They also lived briefly in Omaha, NE and Brush, CO. Bill and Vernyce raised their family in Lincoln and retired in 1997 to Bill's boyhood home in Fremont. He was an Amsoil dealer for many years and later became a motivational speaker for a small firm and then was active with Stephen Ministries through their church.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife and parents. He is survived by his children Darrin Schmidt (Kristin) of Elkhorn, NE and their children Ryan (Katie), Samuel and Miles; Tammy Tuttle (Rich) of Depew, OK and daughter Ashley Clark of Lincoln, NE; Sisters-in-Law Lonni (Andersen) Stedry of Peoria, AZ and Jeanie (Andersen) Eker of Shawnee Mission, KS; brother-in-law Arden (Laurel) Andersen of Scottsdale, AZ.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, (1249 E 23rd St, Fremont, NE 68025) followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow the burial at Ludvigsen Mortuary.
