Died Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at home.
Arlen Dale ''Peps'' Wedergren, born August 23rd, 1931 to Floyd and Gladys Wedergren in Hooper, Nebraska. Peps attended Uehling High School and graduated in 1948, followed by his enlistment into the U.S. Navy in 1951 with his good friend, Dale ''Bucket'' Anderson. Arlen had many fascinating experiences serving on the Boxer, Philippine Sea, and Yorktown, on which he completed his service in 1955. On a blind date he met his future wife, Faye Meyer, and after marrying in '61 they moved to Palmdale, California. There, Arlen worked in civil service as a grocer on Edwards Air Force Base.
In 1967, Arlen and Faye adopted their son, Kevin, and in 1970 the family moved back home to Nebraska. Arlen took up a job shucking corn for Hogemeyer Hybrids, learned their product and became a renowned salesman for 25 years. As a familiar face to his many local customers, a longstanding member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, and proud member of his church, Arlen never hungered for fruitful interaction in his community. Involving his family in community cleanups, bringing Faye to town dances, or simply cheering on local sports teams such as his son's Logan View football team, Peps was just a guy you'd love to run into. Arlen Loved Faye, her home cooked meals, and the laughs they'd bring each other. They both loved their son and grandchildren tremendously. Hosting them many weekends throughout the year, often traveling from Uehling to Omaha just for a baseball game, school recital, or a summer day at the park.
Arlen was blessed with many loving family members, is survived by his son Kevin, Kevin's four children, his two great grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Arlen was preceded in death by his wife Faye in February of 2023.
There is no viewing but the family will receive friends June 6, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home at 7pm. Burial will be in the Omaha National Cemetery next to his wife on June 9, 2025 at 9am.
