Roger was born in Fremont on April 10, 1947 to Raymond and Almira (Tienken) Von Seggern. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's County Line and transferred to St. John's Ridgeley. Roger graduated from Scribner High School in 1965 then attended two years at Wayne State College. In June of 1968, he married Judy Oeltjen. Two weeks later, he was drafted to Vietnam where he served in the army until 1971. Upon his return, he farmed south of Scribner with his Dad, worked at IBP, Schuyler Pac, and later Magnus Metals where he retired. Through the years he kept busy playing tuba in multiple polka and community bands, fishing, and woodworking. He held offices in the American Legion, VFW and Forty and Eight Veterans Organization. He was a past 4H leader, tractor enthusiast, avid magazine reader, and loved spending time with his dogs. When he could no longer help with field work, he enjoyed watching son Marty harvest. Spending time with his grandkids was always a highlight of his day.
Roger is survived by wife, Judy; daughter Becky (James) Lynn of Uehling, son Marty of Scribner, daughter Barb (Jeremy) Jindra of Pilger. Grandchildren Lexi Lynn and Braxton Jindra.
Preceded in death by parents Raymond and Almira, brother Stanley, and infant grandson Trevor Lynn.
