Passed away Saturday December 14, 2024 at the Heritage at Shalimar Gardens.
Harlan was born December 3, 1931, on a farm north of Valley, Nebraska, to Donald and Alice (Whitney) Waugh. He graduated from Valley High School in 1949, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955 before marrying Nelda Bowersox of Palisade, NE on Jan. 22, 1956. He then worked for Hormel Foods until retirement. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Fremont. He enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. In his retirement he stayed active with fishing, hunting, golf and loved sports of all kinds.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nelda, his brother Richard, in-laws Burt Jung, Myron Plambeck, Jim Cunningham and Dick and Ardith Miller.
He is survived by his children, Tim (Lynette) Waugh of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Barbara Waugh of Lincoln, Nebraska, Nancy Waugh (Jack) Gilstrap of Abilene, Kansas; two grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Waugh of Midlothian, Virginia, and Elisha (Jonathan) Lowe of Gurley, Alabama; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Elaine Jung of Mason, Ohio, Marilyn Cunningham of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marjorie Plambeck of Indianapolis, Indiana and sister-in-law Marilyn Waugh of Valley, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont from 3pm to 7pm with the family present from 5pm to 7pm. Graveside service is 9am, Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Elk City Cemetery, funeral service will follow at 11am at the First Baptist Church in Fremont with Flag presentation. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church (505 N. C, Fremont).
