Died Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Dunklau Gardens

Alene was born on August 21, 1929 in Omaha to Cloyd and Alma 'Cogle' Hawley. She married the love of her life Edwin Herbert Nestander on February 5, 1949. Alene graduated from Benson High School in 1947. She earned two Master Degrees at Midland University later in life.

Alene was a librarian by education but a caretaker by nature. Caring for their 4 incredible children, traveled to many countries with her husband and enjoyed time with her family at their lake home until the flood of 2019. In the winter months you could find Alene and Herb on the beach of Ixtapa, Mexico for the last 20 years. Alene was also a past Jobs Daughters Honor Queen.

Preceded in death by her parents Cloyd and Alma, her husband Edwin Herbert Nestander, sons Mark A. Nestander and Daniel W. Nestander, brother Robert Hawley and grandson, Terry Nestander.

She survived by her two daughters, Cheri L. Luff (Bob), Pamela J Mulliken (Jack), daughters-in-law Doreen Nestander, Janet Nestander and grandchildren Stefanie Scearcy, Jennifer Baker, Robert Mulliken, Kristin Hansen, Michelle Knisely, Dr. Matthew Nestander, Joshua Luff, Holli Luff, Kelsey Mulliken- Hunt and Tyler Mulliken and several great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 2pm, Friday, October 20, 2023 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. A Celebration of Life following at a location to be determined.
