Jerry Lewin, Sr. departed this life and was reunited with his sweetheart on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Jerry was born June 20, 1951 to Erma Carpenter. He was raised by his aunt and uncle Janet and Hershel Rucker as well as his grandparents Donnie and Bernice Rucker and grew up around the Fremont, Nebraska area.

He met the love of his life, Diane Madru, when he was just a teenager. He and Diane were united in marriage on September 26, 1969. The couple was blessed with three amazing children: Scott, Jerry, Jr., and Angela.

Jerry was passionate about many things. He loved cars, especially Pontiacs. He swore they were the fastest cars ever made. He was also a cowboy and a lover of horses. He owned many throughout his life, his favorite being a quarter horse named Junior. He spent many summers giving his grandchildren rides around the farm. Jerry was also never without a dog. He was without a doubt greeted at the gates of heaven by the wagging tails of all of his faithful companions from over the years. He was also truly passionate about his family. He was always so proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He spoke highly of them all and loved to brag about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. But his greatest passion of all was undoubtedly his wife-their love was indeed a once in a lifetime kind of love, the kind many only dream of. They were truly the best of friends and partners in all things.

Jerry was preceded in death by the love of his life, Diane, in August of 2021 after nearly 52 years of marriage.

Jerry is survived by his children: Scott (Ang) Lewin of Florida, Jerry (Jodi) Lewin, Jr. of Lincoln, NE, and Angela (Mike) Brainard of Scribner, NE; his special second daughter Annette Lewin of Omaha; his grandchildren: Scott's children: Jason (Megan), Amanda (Tyler), Emily, Austin, and Alexis Lewin, and Donovan, Kamryn, and Cory Chastain; Jerry's child: Lira Lewin; and Angela's children: Alexandria (Ty) Austin, Joshua McMillen, and Cassedy Brainard; and his great grandchildren: Tate and Kenzie Austin.

A private family service will be held at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel.

I just found out that your father is my biological uncle, so I wanted to offer my condolences and also offer for you to reach out to me, if you want. My father’s name was Larry Lewin and his name was changed to Jim Walter. Please feel free to reach out to me. Your family is in our prayers.
