Joan was born on October 23, 1939, to Isaac ''Bob'' and Audrey Williams in Wymore, NE. She graduated from Wymore High School in 1957 and went right to work. While single she lived and worked in CA and Chicago. She went back to Wymore and married Larry O. Brown and they had their family. Larry was a high school teacher and coach. They lived in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Pawnee City, NE; Indianola, NE; Peru, NE; Tilden, NE; and Foley, MO, where he taught and coached before moving to Fremont, NE, in 1996. She always made lifelong friends wherever they lived and found a good job. She worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad in McCook for many years as a Yard Clerk. She was an excellent secretary who ended her career at Boys Town in the Staff Training department. She retired from there and went right back to work caring for and helping with her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending as many activities as she could, not wanting to miss out on anything! She attended an incredible amount of football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and softball games, as well as cross country and track and field over the years supporting Larry, son Brad, and then her grandkids. She loved Husker football and volleyball. She was kind and had a smile for everyone she encountered. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxilary and supported the Great Plains Welsch Heritage Museum in Wymore, NE.
She is survived by her son, Charles ''Brad'' Brown (wife Cari) of Gretna, NE; daughter Shannon Hansen (husband Todd) of Fremont, NE; grandson Zach Brown (wife Danielle) of Omaha, NE; granddaughter Brianna Pfieffer (husband Derek) of Brock, NE; granddaughter Brandi Brown of Omaha, NE; grandson Ty Hansen of Omaha, NE; and granddaughter Hope Hansen of Fremont, NE. She loved her great-grandchildren Owen and Quinton Pfieffer and Blakely and Willa Brown more than they will ever know! Her brother Butch Williams lives in Wymore, NE.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, daughter Lori Jane Peterson, and grandson Trey Hansen.
A graveside service will be held in Wymore, NE, at the Wymore Cemetery on November 6th at 10:30 am. Memorials are suggested to the Great Plains Welsh Heritage Musesum in Wymore, NE.
