Joan (Meyer) Moeller was born to Henry and Nora Meyer of Scribner, Nebraska on September 26, 1931. Joan was baptized into the Christian faith on November 1, 1931 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She attended Scribner High School, graduating in a class of 40 students in 1948.
Joan married Merlin Moeller in a white lace and satin dress on May 7, 1950 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They held their wedding dance in the Snyder Ballroom decorated in blue and white before heading off on a trip together. The couple were blessed with three daughters; Susan, Glenice, and Carol.
Joan went on to pursue a career at the First National Bank of Scribner in 1950 as an assistant cashier and was appointed a bank officer in 1976. She attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha and graduated from the Colorado Graduate School of Banking in 1983. Joan went on to accomplish the position of senior vice president of banking in January of 1995 before retiring in September of 1998.
Moving to Omaha in June 1999, Joan was able to enjoy hobbies such as golf, reading, furniture refinishing, and hosting card parties. Her great passion of world travel took her first to Hong Kong and her favorite destination of Istanbul. Joan's greatest love was for her family, she was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She often was found supporting her grandchildren at sporting activities, concerts, birthday parties, and many other special events.
After a blessed and joyful life, Joan was called to heaven on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. She is survived by her daughter Glenice and husband Willis Meyer of Johnson, Nebraska; son-in-law Mike Schlueter and wife Liz of Scribner, Nebraska; sister-in-law Eunice Muller of Elkhorn, Nebraska; sister-in-law Iyone Meyer of Prescot, Arizona; dear friend Richard Taylor of Sacramento, California; dear friend Jacque Halsey of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan is greeted in heaven by husband Merlin Moeller, daughters Susan Welborn and Carol Schlueter, and brother Glenn Meyer.
Visitation will be Friday, July 24, 2020 at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel in Scribner from 4pm to 7pm. Masks are strongly suggested. A private family service will be held Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the family.
