I served in the armed forces.
MSgt. Jay Allen Miller, age 72, passed away in his home in Nebraska surrounded by family on January 30, 2020.

Jay is survived by his wife, Christina; his son, his four daughters, his fourteen grandchildren, and his three sisters.

Jay was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 13, 1947, to Jay and Betty. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic for 25 years. He served his country in Vietnam from 1966-68. In 1974, he married Christina in Indiana. Through the military, he had the opportunity to be stationed in various places, such as Spain, New Mexico, Texas, California, Oklahoma, Nebraska and The Netherlands twice (his favorite place to have lived). After 25 years of military service, he then began a civil service career that spanned another 17 years, the last 7 years working at Offutt Air Force Base. He retired in 2010 which gave him more time to do the things he loved to do.

Jay was a talented carpenter. He would spend many hours in the garage making works of art while whistling a tune. He had the skills to renovate many of their family's homes. He had a love for all animals, especially dogs. Whenever he had a spare moment, he would take his boat to the lake and go fishing. Saturday afternoon or Sundays you could always find him on his recliner watching football cheering for Ohio State, or the Pittsburgh Steelers. He didn't like going out to eat much because the best chef in town he thought was his wife. He loved her cooking, especially her oatmeal cookies. He enjoyed working on cars, watching a good ol' Western show, or humming to Golden Oldies and country music.

Jay's greatest accomplishment he would say was having been married to the love of his life; his "girlfriend," his Corazon, his Vida, Christina.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 11 am at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, NE. Pastor Charles Starks will officiate. Military Honors will be provided at the funeral home immediately following the service by the Fremont Honor Guard.
