Joyce was born in 1928 in Fremont, Nebraska and was lucky to grow up on a family farm during the Great Depression, where they always had food and were able to feed anyone who showed up at their door. In her youth, she was a 4H baking champion and, after winning a competition, got to play accordion on the radio on KHUB.
She married Kenneth Robertson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont in 1946, where she was also baptized, and together they moved to Kansas City, MO where Kenny worked as a pipe fitter and she raised their three boys.
After retiring to the Lake of Ozarks and then to Phoenix, AZ, Joyce decided to move back to the town of her youth, and relocated to Fremont in 2005.
She will always be remembered for the way she told family stories, her love of playing bridge and shopping for shoes, and her joy at playing a good polka on the accordion.
She is survived by her sons, Larry of Denver, CO, Roger of Kansas City, MO and Steve and his wife Pam of Stratford, CT, and by her six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
