Died November 7, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha from a stroke.
Jolene was born March 29, 1948 to Thorle and Arlene 'Sorensen' Plahn in western Iowa. She attended nursing school at Jenny Edmundson and achieved an associate degree in nursing.
She was a Registered Nurse from 1969 until retiring. She worked at hospitals in the Omaha area usually in the critical care areas. She finished her nursing career working with the American Red Cross in the blood donor service.
Survivors:
Husband John of Omaha
Children Tara (Matt) Morgan of Florida, Robert Pritchard of Florida, Jason Pritchard of Omaha
and Wendy (James) Dougherty of Texas
Brothers Rick and wife Connie Plahn, Tom and wife Esther Plahn, both of Fremont.
14 grandchildren
2 great grandchildren
Jolene was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Jack Charles Plahn (Vietnam War) and Jeffrey Plahn.
If there is one thing you can say about Jolene, it is that she never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, regardless of who they were or how they met. She loved to laugh, and her laugh was so contagious that you couldn't help but enjoy the time spent with her. Some of her greatest joys in life were spending time with family, playing cards and marbles, taking care of her dogs, Charmin and Trouble, and spending time in Aruba on the beach. She would always answer a call and lend an ear, no matter the reason.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A prayer service will be held Sunday at 1pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue after the service until 3pm. Burial will be held at a later date.
