Died Wednesday October 10, 2018
Larry Lee Gitt passed away unexpectantly on October 10, 2018. He was born in Fremont on March 4, 1941 to Elmer and Lillian (Rosie) (Adams) Gitt. He attended Fremont Senior High school and graduated in 1960, then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served until 1968. Following his service, worked at Boeing Aviation until returning to Nebraska. An electrician by trade, he started the local business Gitt Electrical and later Woodcraft Manufacturing until retiring in 2003. It was then he perused his lifelong passion of aviation by flying, building and owning various types of aircraft- both conventional and experimental. His most remarkable feat was landing (or crashing) his Gyrocopter in a field in North Fremont, walking away unscathed.
Larry will be remembered as having a quick wit, a fearless attitude and a zest for life.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Elmer and Rosie Gitt of Fremont and his son-in-law Wade Woxland of Highlands Ranch, Co.
He is survived by his sister LeeAnn Diedrichsen (Tom Diedrichsen), brother Leslie Gitt (Robin White-Gitt) of Hooper, son Thomas Dawkins of Seattle, Washington, daughter Cozie Dawkins Cates of Amarillo, Texas, son Darrell Martin of Bothell, Washington daughter Nicole Gitt-Woxland of Omaha and Sean-Paul Gitt of Fremont, 9 grandchildren and multiple cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation with family will be at Ludvigsen Mortuary on Monday October 15, 2018 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM. A private ceremony for family will be held later.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the new Fremont Veterans Park. (https://natlvtn.org/fremont-veterans-memorial-park/)
