Harlan W. Frischie

March 1, 1927 - January 7, 2013

Harlan was born March 1, 1927 in Scribner to Chris and Lydia 'Borcher' Frischie. He was raised in Scribner, attended St. Peter's School and graduated from Scribner High School in 1944. In July of 1945 Harlan began his military service. After his basic training near Tyler, Texas he went to finance school near Indianapolis, IN. He was then sent to Salzburg, Austria to be Chief Finance Officer for a year and returned to the United States and was honorably discharged in January of 1947.

Harlan married Joyce Peters at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner on November 9, 1947. He was employed as a parts man for Vietmeier Von-Behren in Scribner, then farmed for 22 years. He was then employed as a parts man at Kassmeier Implement Company in Hooper and also at Platte Valley Implement in Fremont after the two merged. He was member at St. Peter's Lutheran Church holding nearly every office and was active as the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) representative. He was also a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Choir and the American Legion Post 121 of Scribner.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cheryl Malloy in 2007, 4 sisters and 1 brother.

The funeral will be 10:30am Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Scribner Rescue Squad, St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Orphan Grain Train in Norfolk. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm at the Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at church.
