Elva was born September 30, 1918 in rural Colfax County to Chris and Jennie 'Ruzicka' Arps. She attended school in the rural North Bend area. Elva married William Koester May 1, 1936. The couple lived in Worland Wyoming, for several years before moving to Snyder, NE. where they ran a cafe. They moved to Fremont in 1961 and she worked at Al's Cafe and Richee Dairy Store. Elva moved to Scribner in 1973 and began working for the Good Samaritan Center in the dietary department for 18 years, retiring in 1991. Elva was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Snyder; St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont and was presently a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. She was also a member of the St. Catherine's Guild and Charter member of Snyder VFW Post 8439 Auxiliary for 50 years.

2 Brothers - Clarence 'Pete' and wife Dorothy Arps of Red Bluff, CA.

Shirley Arps of Eugene OR.

Elva was preceded in death by her husband William on October 19, 1972, 3 sisters Nora Hallowell, Eva Hoge & Mattie Hoge; 5 brothers Chris, Leonard, Augie, Leroy Arps and Gordon Arps in infancy; Son-in-law Vern Ebel and grandson Scott Ebel in infancy.

The funeral mass will be on Wednesday February 13 at 10:00am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. The Rev. Vitalis Anyanike will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Ridgeley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Lawrence and to the FAMC Hospice. Visitation will be on Tuesday February 12 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm the family will be present from 6pm to 8pm and a wake service will be held at 7pm all at
St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. Visitation will continue one hour before service on Wednesday.
