Elton Schulz was born Sept. 27, 1917 to Emil and Lenora (Raasch) Schulz at the family farm near Wisner. He attended country school district 70 in Cuming County.

Elton served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947 in the 19th infantry in Japan. He was married to Dolores Dahl on March 3, 1946 in Wisner. They farmed in the Scribner area.

Music was a big interest in his life. He played in the Scribner Municipal Band and many dance bands, including Reggie Dahl, Chris Blumm, Artie Smidt, Les' Merry Men, The Skyliners, and Bob Rabe. Elton had his own combo for 25 years, with his daughter playing the organ.

Elton was a member of the United Lutheran Church and served on the church council, sang in the choir, and served as superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a member of Scribner's American Legion Post 121 and the VFW Post 4919 of West Point. He has played taps for the Legion since 1947 and was doing so until the present time.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores, daughter Nancy and husband Tom Tesch of Lansing, Kansas,
2 grandchildren Seth Boll of Beatrice and Sarah Boll (special friend Darrye Womach) of Las Vegas, Nevada,
2 great grandchildren Caleb and Mason. Also surviving are a sister Arvilla Unges of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a sister-in-law Doris Muller of Scribner, and 2 special nieces Diane Berens of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Susan Shiell of Tampa, Florida.

The funeral service will be 10 AM Friday (August 8th) in the United Lutheran Church, Scribner, with the Rev. Dr. Nicki McIntyre officiating. The committal will follow in the Scribner Cemetery with Military Honors.
Memorials are suggested to the Scribner Rescue Squad and to the United Lutheran Church. Visitation at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel will be on Thursday (Aug. 7th) from 3 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 PM.
