Marlon was born in Fremont on November 14, 1955 to Kenneth and Mary 'Johnson' Jones. He grew up in Arlington, Nebraska and graduated from Arlington High School with the class of 1974.

He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving with the Sea Bees from 1974 to 1977. He returned to this area, working at Valmont. In 1984, he reenlisted and retired from the Navy Sea Bees in 2001. Marlon had served in many locations all around the world. Following his return to Fremont, he has worked in maintenance for Nye Square / Nye Court.

Marlon was a member of the Arlington Community Church. An excellent woodworker, he had made many pieces for his family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and he was an avid Cornhusker fan.
His granddaughter, Gracie, had a special place in her grandfather's life.

On April 30, 1977, Marlon was married to Susan Livingston in the First United Methodist Church in Fremont.

Marlon was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, infant sister Patty, his father-in-law Don Livingston, and 2 brothers-in-law.

A memorial service will be held in the Arlington Community Church, 11 AM Wednesday (Febr. 18, 2009) with the Rev. Shirley Schmidt officiating. Following the service the United States Flag will be presented to the family by the American Legion Post and the VFW Post of Arlington. There will be no public visitation. A memorial to Marlon will be established later.

The Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, is in charge of the arrangements.
