Douglas K. Ludvigsen

Douglas K. Ludvigsen

August 4, 2009

Douglas Kent Ludvigsen was born on December 14, 1945 to Elmer and Lois 'Dahl' Ludvigsen in Fremont, Nebraska. Doug spent his childhood growing up in Fremont on his family's acreage. He attended Garden City Elementary School, Fremont Jr. High School, and graduated from Fremont High School. After completing high school Doug attended Midland Lutheran for two years. After two years of college, Doug decided to enlist in the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. He spent his time in the Air Force working in the White House Communication Room. He also was able to make several flights on Air Force one with multiple presidents. When Douglas got out of the military, he decided to go back to college to earn his degree. He earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia in 1972. Douglas went on to earn his Masters in Public Administration from DePaul University in Chicago. Douglas went to Work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1972 and was assigned to work in Chicago. During his 22 years in Chicago he spent time working in "white collar crimes", gangs, and in a Special Operations Group. After his time in Chicago, Doug transferred to Tucson, Arizona in 1997 where he spent five years before his retirement in 2002. After retiring Doug worked part time as contact consultant for the government.

Douglas married the love of his life, Dee Anne Carlstrom on June 7, 1969 in Fremont, Nebraska. He had two sons, Markus John born on July 28, 1974, and Michael Kent born on July 16, 1978. Doug really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He spent a lot time serving God by being actively involved with his Church. Some of Doug's favorite activities included playing golf, attending Nebraska Cornhusker football games, and traveling with his family. On one trip with his family he found his favorite place to relax, which was Cabo San Lucas, on the Baja peninsula in Mexico. In the spring of 2008 Doug faced the biggest challenge of life when he was diagnosed with brain cancer. He faced this challenge with dignity and the support of his family and friends. His faith in the Lord helped him to accept this challenge and not feel pity for himself. During his battle with cancer, Doug was more worried about his family's well being than himself. On the morning of August 4, 2009 the Lord called Douglas home to be with him. This is a day that the world lost an amazing person and heaven gained a true hero.
