Edna A. Walker, age 97, of Fremont

went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. She was born in Sutton, Nebraska on March 5, 1913 to Henry and Sophie (Griess) Scheidemann.
Edna graduated from Sutton High School and moved to Hastings where she was employed at Mary Lanning Hospital in Dietary Services. Edna met and married Edward E. Walker of Hastings, NE in 1936. They moved to Fremont in January of 1950. He husband preceded her in death on June 10, 1966.

Edna was employed at Campbell Soup Co. for ten years. She also did babysitting and house cleaning for Fremont families. Her interests included a garden club, an extension club, quilting many quilts for grandchildren and her church, hospital volunteer, and years of participation in the life of her church, the First Congregational Church, UCC.

Her survivors: son - Edward E. Walker, Jr. and wife Jane of Fremont
2 daughters - Myrna A. Hanson and husband Donald of Yellow Springs, OH
Connie S. Grosse and husband Dennis of Phoenix, AZ
1 brother - Leon and wife Dorothy Scheidemann of Salem, OR
1 sister - Lucyle Sterkel of Sutton, NE
6 grandchildren - Scott Huff, Susan Mitterling and husband Randy, Douglas Hanson and wife
Lisamarie, Dr. Erin Cornwell and husband Dr. Ben, Seth Walker, and Jill
Walker.
5 great grandchildren - Sarah Lymber and husband Wade, Alex Huff, and Jacob, Joshua, and
Justin Mitterling.
2 great, great grandchildren - Evan and Nicholas Lymber
many other family members and friends.
Edna was preceded in death, in addition to her husband Edward, by a daughter Mary Ellen York, a sister Emma Krieger, and brothers Herman and Robert Scheidemann.

The funeral service will be 10 AM Saturday (April 3rd, 2010) at the First Congregational Church, UCC, with the Rev. Terri Akkerman officiating. The final resting place will be at Memorial Cemetery next to her husband and daughter. Visitation, with closed casket, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Friday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.

Memorials in memory of Edna are suggested to the First Congregational Church, UCC, organ fund and to the Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice.
