She was born August 4, 1920 in Wallace, Nebraska to Herbert and Esther (Bond) Rowan. She grew up in Wallace and graduated from high school there. During the time she worked for the Montgomery Ward Store in Hastings, she met F. Douglas Brown. They were married in Hastings on June 22, 1948.

The couple lived in Omaha until 1952 when they moved to Sioux City. There her husband managed the Buck's Shoe Store which he later purchased. In 1964 they moved to Fremont when they purchased the Buck's Shoe Store here. They owned this Fremont store until their son Kirk became the owner in 1986. Doug continued working there until he retired in 1994.

She was a member of The Presbyterian Church, a 50 year plus member of Arbor Vitae Chapter 92 Order of Eastern Star, member of Sat Ra Temple No. 59 Daughters of the Nile of Omaha, and she was a member of the former Fremont Nile Club. She was an avid bridge player.

Survivors: daughter - Vickie and husband Anthony Martinkus of Ft. Collins, Colorado
2 sons - Craig and wife Cheryl Brown of Omaha
Kirk and wife Mollie Brown of Fremont
8 grandchildren

sister - Doris and husband Duane Clough of McCook, Nebraska

She was preceded in death by her husband F. Douglas Brown in October of 1996.

Services will be held in The Presbyterian Church, Fremont, on Saturday, May 15th, at 10 AM. An Eastern Star Service, conducted by Arbor Vitae Chapter 92 will be followed by a Memorial Service with the Rev. Bill Bowers officiating. Memorials are suggested to The Presbyterian Church.

The family will be receiving friends at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel Friday evening, May 14th, from 6:30 PM to 8 PM.
