Valerie A. Whitney, age 66, of Fremont Died Monday, June 15, 2026 at home.
Valerie was born August 21, 1959 in Olathe, Kansas to David and Lois 'Corke' Kaiser. She went to school in Humeston, Iowa and graduated from Lexington High School in Nebraska 1978. She went to Central Community College in Kearney for Nursing school. She worked various places including Good Samaritan in Kearney. In July of 1984 she married Patrick Whitney. After their marriage they moved to Fremont NE where they raised three children Daniel, Traci, and Katie.
Valerie's nursing career took her to many different places. From nursing homes, like Arbor Manor in Fremont to hospitals like Methodist Fremont Health. She also worked in offices like Health West and Ortho Nebraska in Omaha. Her last job was Think Whole Person Health Care in Omaha.
Valerie was a member of the Fremont First United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher over the years. She loved her church family dearly. She was a lifetime Girl Scout member and shared that love with her daughters. She was active taking a part in important nonprofit organizations like Alzheimer's Association, Parkinsons Foundation and Arthritis Foundation. She spent many miles hanging onto Patrick as they rode cross country with their Valkyrie motorcycle club VRCC. She visited many different places with her husband and made many friends along the way.
Survivors: Husband Pat of Fremont Mother - Lois Kaiser of Hartford, SD. Brother - Thomas Kaiser of Hartford, SD. Family dog-Murphy Son - Daniel (Abby) Whitney and their children Jack and Zane of Blair Daughter - Traci (Richie Poethig) of Fremont Katie's life partner - Andrew Lempke of Elkhorn Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other family.
Valerie was preceded in death by her father Dr. David P. Kaiser DVM, daughter Katie and in-laws Harmon and Winona Whitney.
Visitation with the family present will be Monday, June 22, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. The funeral will be 10am, Tuesday, June 23, at the Fremont First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family.
