Wayne "Tuffy" J. Lamberty
February 9, 1957 - June 7, 2026
Wayne ''Tuffy'' Joseph Lamberty, age 69, joined the glory of God on June 7, 2026, at Nebraska Medicine.
Wayne was born to Joseph and Joyce Lamberty on February 9, 1957, in Ogallala, Nebraska. At a young age, his family moved to Arnold, Nebraska, where he spent much of his childhood and proudly called home for many years. Later, he moved to Callaway, to raise his daughter, and eventually settled in Fremont so he could be home more while continuing his trucking career. He graduated from Arnold High School in 1975 and went on to serve in the United States Navy before pursuing his true passion - truck driving.
Wayne was a dedicated professional driver whose career spanned many years. He worked for Marten Transport, where he became the first dedicated driver for the Jelly Belly Candy company, a role he held for many years. He later joined Fremont Contract Carrier, where he continued doing what he loved until his retirement.
Wayne married Mary, in 1991. Together they welcomed their daughter, Monti, in 1993. Though small in number, their family was rich in love, support, and cherished memories.
Wayne had a strong sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to make someone smile. His charisma, quick wit, and genuine kindness allowed him to form friendships wherever the road took him. Over the years, he made friends in nearly every corner of the 48 states he traveled through as a truck driver. Trucking was more than a career - it was who he was. He was happiest behind the wheel of his semi, enjoying the freedom of the open road.
In his free time, Wayne enjoyed watching football and old westerns, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. When he was no longer able to drive, he found comfort at home with his beloved dogs, Bernadette and Gracie ''Bug.''
Wayne wanted to be a grandfather more than anything, and in 2024, that dream came true when he became ''Papa'' to his granddaughter, Harper Rose. From the moment she entered his life, she became one of his greatest joys. Although they were only able to share 2½ years together, they formed an incredibly close bond. Harper loved talking with her Papa, and in many ways, she still does. The love they shared continues to live on in her heart and in the memories they created together.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Mary; daughter, Monti; son-in-law, Justin; and granddaughter, Harper Rose. His sisters, Sue, Pam (Jim), Patty and Nyla Ann (Dale), as well as his nieces, nephews, many friends and his beloved dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Joyce Lamberty; his brother, Doug; his brother-in-law Kent, and many dear family members and friends who touched his life throughout the years.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Fremont. Burial is in Memorial Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Eagles Club. Memorials may be directed to the family.
