Marilyn G. Bartling

Marilyn G. (Andrus) Bartling, 95 years, of Fremont, NE formerly of Herman, NE passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Methodist Fremont Health. She was born on July 11, 1930 to Donald and Frances (Killip) Andrus in Lincoln. She grew up in Lincoln NE and graduated from College View High School in 1948. She worked at the First Continental Bank in Lincoln for several years. She also belonged to Beta Sigma Phi while living in Lincoln.
Marilyn married Donald Bartling on August 14, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE. They lived on the family farm near Herman NE until August of 2019, when they moved to Nye Square in Fremont. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Hooper, NE. She enjoyed making quilts for Project Linus, during COVID she and others at Nye Square made medical gowns for Methodist Fremont Health as well as other sewing projects for charity. Marilyn and Donald loved to travel. Hi-lights were an Alaskan Cruise and a trip to Maui. Marilyn loved family and was always up to date on family activities and new family members.
Marilyn is survived by her sister-in-law, Vera Kuss of Elkhorn; nephews and nieces, Russell (Jennifer) Bartling, David (Jill ) Bartling, Larry (Mary) Stigge, Paul (Karen) Stigge, Mike (Cheryl) Kuss; nieces, Joan (Doyle) Onnen, Pam (Dennis) Gaare, Susan Svoboda, Patricia Heikes, and Mary (Jim) Miyeno, and many grand and great grand nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Frances (Killip) Andrus, her in-laws Adolph and Bertha (Benjes) Bartling; her husband Donald Bartling, Sister Donna M. (Andrus) and her husband Don Svoboda, brother and sister-in-laws, Harvey and Elaine Bartling, Erma and Wilbert Stigge, and Ronald Kuss. Visitation with the family present is from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Hooper Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service, will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow NE. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery next to the church. Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Heritage Foundation or the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
