Kathleen "Kay" M. Livingston
September 7, 1940 - December 23, 2025
Kathleen M. Livingston, age 85, of Hooper Died Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at home.
Kathleen Marie (Early) Livingston was born on September 7, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to John and Irene (McManus) Early. She lived in Minnesota until the age of two, when her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she was raised. Kathleen graduated from Mercy High School in 1958 and went on to attend Duchesne College in Omaha. She earned her degree in Sociology with a minor in Education in 1962.
Following college, Kathleen began her teaching career in Omaha, where she taught at Walnut Hill, St. James, and Holy Name schools. On October 3, 1964, she married Robert J. Livingston. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Omaha, and Kathleen continued teaching until the birth of their children, after which she devoted herself to raising her family.
In 1974, Kathleen and Robert moved to Hooper, Nebraska, where they raised their children. She returned to education as a substitute teacher in 1980 and, in 1986, resumed teaching full time. Over the next 17 years, Kathleen taught at a rural elementary school and at St. Wenceslaus Elementary School in Dodge. She retired after being honored as Elementary Educator of the Year by the Archdiocese of Omaha.
Kathleen lived a life of service. She volunteered tirelessly at her church, serving in many roles wherever she was needed, and spent many years volunteering at the hospital. She never hesitated to say yes when others needed help.
She enjoyed many hobbies, including volunteering and golfing, but her true passion was sewing and crafting. Kathleen lovingly created countless quilts and handmade pieces for family and friends, never turning down the opportunity to make something beautiful for someone else.
Kathleen remained active and engaged throughout her life. She participated in multiple bridge and card clubs, hosted a weekly Bible study, stayed committed to her fitness routines, enjoyed lunches and dinners with friends, and faithfully attended Mass each week. Her generosity, dedication, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
