Susan Rae Spears, age 80, of Fremont, formerly of Shenandoah, IA.
Died Monday, September 23, 2024 at The Heritage at Shalimar Gardens
Susan was born June 25, 1944 in Marshalltown, Iowa to William and Jessie 'Campbell' Boyle. She was raised in Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1962. She attended Marshalltown Community College for a short time before marrying Rick Patterson in January 1963. In 1966 the family moved to Shenandoah. Rick died on September 24, 1974. Susan then married Roger Stooker in 1976. They lived on a farm near Farragut, Iowa and later divorced. In December of 2001 she married Tom Spears. In their later years they spent a majority of their time in Branson, MO. They loved going to shows and spending time on their boat. Susan especially enjoyed time with her grand and great grandchildren as well as shopping trips with friends.
A majority of her working years were spent at City National Bank in Shenandoah. She was part of the Angel Quilters, volunteered at the library and hospital gift shop and also volunteered working elections. She had a knack for sending cards for birthday's and anniversary's to family and friends that would arrive on their actual date of celebration.
In November of 2022 Susan moved to Fremont to be closer to family and eventually moved to Shalimar Memory Unit in January of 2023. The family is so thankful and grateful for the wonderful care Susan received.

Son - Jeffrey (Mindy) Patterson of Council Bluffs, IA.
Daughter - Kristi (Bill) Booth of Ames, NE.
Grandchildren - Jessie, Tyler, Autumn and Brady Patterson
Logan and Kacee Booth
Great grandchildren - Drextyn and Dayzie Lininger
Susan was preceded in death by her husbands Rick Patterson, Tom Spears, parents, great grandchild Jax Carroll, brothers John Catron and Charles Boyle.
The funeral will be 11am, Monday, September 30, 2024 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be Sunday with the family present from 2pm to 4pm at the funeral home in Fremont. Memorials are suggested to the Heritage at Shalimar Gardens. Graveside service will be 10:30am, Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Graceland Cemetery in Laurel, Iowa.
