Glenn "Hogie" V. Croshaw, Jr.
May 19, 1930 - August 21, 2023
Glenn V. 'Hogie' Croshaw, Jr., age 93, of Fremont
Died Monday, August 21, 2023 at home.
Hogie was born May 19, 1930 to Glenn V. and Ida 'Booze-Chrisman' Croshaw, Sr. on the property in Fremont that he lived his entire life. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1948 and a year later he joined the U.S. Army. He served in Korea with the 2nd division, serving until 1952. He was given the name 'Hogie' by his military buddies and it stuck his whole life.
Glenn went to work at Hormel Foods and stayed for 26 years. He retired to his Elkhorn River cabin where he met and married the love of his life on May 21, 1983, Charlotte 'Petey' Shorey-Bromley. With this marriage came four beautiful step-daughters Emily, Pat, Cindy, Kitty and a dog named Benji. He was loved dearly and that love was returned by him.
Glenn liked working his gardens, sitting around a campfire with a cold beer, fishing and traveling to the western park to visit his brother Joe Chrisman and family. Fishing and hunting was always a must. He loved family reunions with all the Verbeek and Booze cousins.
Glenn was truly loved by all who knew him. He had a wonderful smile and judged no one. The world is a better place for having him in it.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 40 years, 'Petey', four step daughters, 7 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joe and Warren Chrisman, sister Louanna Freeman, and nephews Gordon and Rick Chrisman.
There is no viewing but the family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. The Croshaw and Booze families were Saunders County pioneers so it was Glenn's wish to be buried with his family so a graveside service with Military Honors will be 10am, Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Maple Grove Cemetery south of Cedar Bluffs next to his parents and both sets of Grandparents and Great Grandparents. Memorials are suggested to VFW Post 854, Fremont Avenue of Flags and the Fremont Family YMCA.
