John M. Ramsay

John M. Ramsay, age 72 of Nickerson, NE,
died Friday, February 24, 2023, at Home.

John was born March 22, 1950 in Omaha, Nebraska to Dr. James E. and Constance (Ray) Ramsay. He graduated from West Holt High School in Atkinson, NE in 1968, and from Hastings College (Hastings, NE) in1972. He taught social studies and coached at Diller Public Schools and Wymore Southern Public Schools. John was married to Vicki Belter in Omaha, NE on June23, 1979.

In1983, he graduated from Park College in Kansas City with a degree in Healthcare Administration. He served as Hospital Administrator in Lynch, NE, in Franklin, NE, Albia, IA, and Friend, NE with the goal of improving healthcare facilities in rural areas.

His activities included the Boy Scouts, Fremont 100 Cosmopolitan Club, Masons, Order of the Eastern Star, and Genealogy, and stamp/coin collecting. He was a member of the Fremont Presbyterian Church, a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, as well as a beloved Nebraska Cornhusker fan. He couldn't go by a garage /estate sale without stopping to look!!

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Cynthia, aunts Frances and Helen Ramsay.

He is survived by his wife Vicki of Nickerson, constant companion Maggie (Scottish Terrier), brother-in-law Rod (Shari) Belter of Omaha, niece Haleigh (Logan) Faller of York, NE, nephew Zachary(Jordan) Belter of Omaha, cousins David (Jeannie) Ramsay of Kansas City, Jim (Gail) Ramsay of Kansas City, Mary (Elbert) McCormick of Sunrise Beach, MO and close friends Jim, Sherry and Carissa Jourdon, Buddy and Angel.

The funeral service will be 2 PM Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the Fremont Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday (Febr.28) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont from 3 PM to 7:30 PM, the family being present from 6 to7:30. A Masonic service will be at 7:30pm at the funeral home in Fremont. A graveside service will be 11am, Thursday, March 2 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson.

Memorials are suggested to Boy Scout Troop 1103 (of Fremont), Fremont 100 Cosmopolitan Club, Fremont Presbyterian Church or the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children.
