Kathrena M. 'Katie' Whitney, age 32, of Elkhorn Died Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at home.
Katie was born February 21, 1989 in Omaha, Nebraska to Patrick and Valerie 'Kaiser' Whitney. She was raised in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 2007 where she was involved in the marching band. While living in Fremont she was a member of the Fremont First United Methodist Church and was active in the Girl Scouts. Katie worked for Don and Millie's, Subway and Applebee's. She attended Metro Community College and received her Associate's Degree. She then attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and received her Bachelor's degree in Management and Entrepreneurship. Katie was working for Interpublic Group in Omaha.
Katie had an infectious laugh that could bring a smile to anyone's face. Her bubbly personality always brought life into any room she went into. Her strongest trait was that of talking anybody's ear off that was in talking distance. She was also famous for many "blond" moments.
Survivors: Parents - Patrick and Valerie Whitney of Fremont Brother - Daniel (Abby Schroeder) Whitney of Blair and their family Zane Whitney and Jack Schroeder Sister - Traci (Richie Poethig) Whitney of Fremont Life Partner - Andrew Lempke of Elkhorn Grandmother - Lois Kaiser of Hartford, South Dakota Best Friend - Sara Karr and family of Fremont Cats - Gus Gus and Chunky Aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.
Katie was preceded in death by her grandparents, David Kaiser, Winona Whitney and Harmon Whitney.
The funeral will be 10am, Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Fremont First United Methodist Church in Fremont. Visitation will be Monday from 3pm to 8pm, with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the family. The family is requesting masks be worn at the visitation and funeral.
