Wallace "Wally" C. Kelberlau

Wallace C. 'Wally' Kelberlau, age 91, of Scribner passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Hooper Care Center
Wally was born April 15, 1928 in rural Scribner to Carl and Hattie 'Wegner' Kelberlau. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church near Scribner. He grew up in the area where he attended grade school and high school. He married Elaine Westphalen on February 15, 1948 at St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church south of Scribner. Wally was a true John Deere man, he began farming in the Winslow/Scribner area, and then moved northwest of Dodge where Wally also did custom corn shelling and baling. He and Elaine raised their family there. In the late 80's they moved to rural Scribner.
He was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church until it closed. He served on the Trinity Cemetery Board along with being the groundskeeper for many years. He was currently a member at Ridgeley. Wally was always pleased to share his memories of the history of the surrounding area and family ancestry to anyone who asked. Playing cards with friends and family, listening to polka music and working on puzzles were some of this favorite past times.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elaine, sister Joyce (Marvin 'Doc') Moeller, brother Stan (Mary) Kelberlau, sister-in-law Doris (Herbert 'Buck') Bennett and brother-in-law Harry McDonald.
The funeral will be Saturday, 10:30am, February 8, 2020 at St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church, burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery, and memorials are suggested to Trinity Cemetery Association, St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church or the Hooper Care Center. Visitation with the family present will be Friday, February 7 at the Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel from 4pm to 8pm.
