Myra J. Schauer, age 87 of Fremont, formerly of Scribner Died Tuesday May 14, 2019 at Dunklau Gardens
Myra was born August 4, 1931 on a farm near Oakdale, Nebraska to Axel and Elsie 'Barton' Nilson. She was raised on the farm and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1949. She attended Wayne State for a summer and received her certificate to teach. She taught at a rural school near Oakdale. She married Alvin Schauer on August 12, 1951 near Oakdale and then the couple moved to their own farm southwest of Scribner where they raised their family.
Myra had been a member of St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church southwest of Scribner, where she taught Sunday School. She also worked at the Scribner Good Samaritan Center and the Scribner Snyder Schools. Alvin died on April 7, 2007 and Myra moved to Fremont shortly after. While in Fremont she became a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
Survivors: Children Bonnie (Tom) Phillips of Fremont Janice (Randal) Stieren of Fremont James Schauer of Fremont David Schauer of Beatrice Grandchildren Craig McMickell, Colleen (Arlen) Jorgensen and their family Kaydence, Aubrie and Raelee; Rebecca McMickell, Jaime Stork and her son Otto, Ryan (Nan) Stieren and their children Nadelyn and Ryles, Noah (Molly) Stieren and their son Addison, Jennifer (Patrick) Rowley and their daughters Elisa and Caroline, Ashley (Sam) Gill and their children Baile, Abby, Rylan and Ezekiel. Sisters Barbara (Bob) White of Los Lunas, NM. Linda Leistritz of Fargo, ND. Sister-in-law Darlene Hall of Denver, CO.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, daughter Carol in 1975 and sister Margaret Westergaard.
The funeral will be 10:30am, Friday, May 17 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Shari Schwedhelm will officiate. Burial will be in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Timothy. Visitation will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, Thursday, from 3pm to 7:30pm with the family present from 5:30 to 7:30. Visitation will continue for an hour before the service at church.
