July 8, 1930 - November 12, 2018

Lloyd M. Wiese age 88, of Scribner
Died Monday November 12, 2018 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont

Lloyd was born on a farm west of Snyder July 8, 1930 to Ernest and Alma (Schlote) Wiese. He attended rural school until the family moved to Scribner in 1943. He was confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on March 25, 1945.

Lloyd graduated from Scribner High School in 1947 at the age of 16. He worked for a time at Scribner Alfalfa Mill and then for Cordes Bros where he helped install the first TV's before they sent him to school where he learned to work on Cockshutt Tractors. When the Korean War came he joined the Army Reserves with several local guys going to weekly meetings, training and summer encampments for 8 years.

Lloyd married Nona Osterloh on July 26, 1953 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They purchased her grandmother's house two year later and this has been their home ever since. Lloyd became a self taught carpenter and did a lot of remodeling, changes and additions to their house thru the years.

Lloyd worked for Ralph McHenry at Scribner Implement, the International Dealership in Scribner, until they closed. In 1980 he built and opened his own repair shop where he worked until the new age of computerized equipment. Through the years he met and worked with many of the farmers in the area making many life long friends.

Lloyd was a long time dedicated member of the Scribner Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad joining at the age of 21 in 1951. This was a time when there were few on the squad and the equipment was minimal. During his many, many years on the squad Lloyd responded to countless calls. Lloyd enjoyed his retirement and meeting friends at Mel's, playing cards in the afternoon.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Nona of Scribner, daughter Lisa (Bruce) Sedivy of Waverly, sons Dr. Jon (Charna) Wiese of Longwood, FL and Tom (Cindi Ries) Wiese of Scribner, NE his seven grandchildren, Becky (Jeremy) Warriner, Amy (Chris) Blomenberg, Ben (Lisa) Sedivy, Jordan (Brent) Harwood, Jon, Michaela & Cameron Wiese and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister LaVanda Petersen and his brother Melvin Wiese.

The memorial service will be 2pm Friday at United Lutheran Church in Scribner. Rev. Dr. Nicki McIntyre and Vicar Bob Ball will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Scribner Volunteer Fire Department or Scribner Rescue Squad. There is no viewing but the family will receive friends at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel, Thursday from 6pm to 8pm.
