Wayne was born December 24, 1946 in Fremont to Leonard and Ruth 'Moeller' Bartling. He was raised in Washington County on the family farm. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow. He graduated from Hooper High School then served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1967 spending time in South Korea. After his military service Wayne returned to the area and worked for several places including Bird Engineering, Valmont as a welder and for a majority of his life farmed on the family farm in Washington County. Wayne was married to Shelly Raszick. Wayne has been a resident of Fremont since 1984.

Wayne had an engineers mind with a big heart and was sensitive toward everyone. He was very proud to have served his country.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.


The funeral will be Thursday, 2pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Anthony Gerber will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family.
