Richard W. Langemeier age 80 of Scribner, Nebraska died February 11th
at the Hooper Care Center surrounded by his family.

Richard Walter Langemeier was born to Walter and Mabel (Beck) Langemeier on March 24th, 1937 in rural Hooper, Nebraska. He started grade school at Telebasta School and finished at District 18 in Dodge County. He graduated from Scribner High School in 1954. He served in the Army from 1956-1957 and worked at Gambles Warehouse and Western Electric from 1957-1960.

On April 4, 1959 he married Helen Hasemann. The couple started farming in 1960. Richard served as a board member for: Dodge County Extension, Dodge County Fair, Farmers Co-op, Cuming Township, District 35 School, St. Paul-Hooper Church Council, and was a member of the Scribner Legion Post 121.

He was an avid gardener and competed at the Dodge County Fair and the Nebraska State Fair. He belonged to an Iris Club, Hosta Club, and the Nebraska Daylily Club. He was a Master Gardener for many years. In his sixties, he learned to golf and went on many golf outings with his three brothers, sister, and friends. After his stroke six years ago, he relied on the support of his family, card club friends, and coffee pals to remain strong, positive and happy.

Survivors include his wife Helen, children Mark (Betsy) of Scribner, Michael (Jane) of Lafayette, IN, Lisa (Brad) Janke of Winside, NE, grandchildren Andrew Langemeier, Craig (Lindsey) Langemeier, Ryan Langemeier, Anna (Ben) Johnson, Mary Langemeier, Christine Langemeier, Nathan Janke (fiancé Taryn), Brittany Janke (fiancé Connor), great grandchild Wesley Langemeier, siblings Shirley (Don) Brown, Glen (Connie) Langemeier, Larry (Vera) Langemeier, Tom (Linda) Langemeier, sister-in-law Carol Hasemann and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Harvey and Dora Hasemann and brother-in-law Leroy Hasemann.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15th from 4:00 8:00 PM, with family in attendance from 6:00 8:00 PM at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 16th at St. Paul Church-Hooper at 2:00 PM with Pastor Judy Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. Paul's Cemetery following the service.

Memorials may be given to replace trees at St. Paul's cemetery.
