Harold L. Waterbury age 76, of Scribner
died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Pathfinder Place, Fremont.

Harold was born February 18, 1941 in Norfolk to Howard and Emma (Krenzein) Waterbury. He graduated from Gresham High School in 1959.

Harold joined the US Army and served 28 years, retiring in 1989 with the rank of Sergeant Major. His military occupational specialties were as a Counselor/Retention Chief and Supply Sergeant. His duty stations were in California, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Louisiana, Missouri, two tours of duty in Germany and two in Vietnam. He received many awards while serving including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Mechanic Badge, Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Retirement Lapel Button, M-16Rifle (Expert), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3).

After retiring from the Army, he was employed with the city of Scribner for 26 years, retiring in May of 2015. He also worked for Hillside De-hy in Uehling/Scribner, Black Top Inc., and Stalp Gravel Company.

Survivors include daughters Wendy Griffin, Clute, Texas and Andrea Ristau, Scribner; sisters Sharon (John) Bitter, Tekamah, Mary Lynn (John) Vogt and Beverly (Richard) Hooper, both of Fremont. He is also survived by grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his father, mother, and nephew Gerid Nelson.

There will be a memorial visitation at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel on Friday (Sept. 29) from 4 to 8 PM. Military Graveside Service is Saturday (September 30) in the Scribner Cemetery at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Scribner Rescue Squad and the Scribner American Legion Post 121.
